Is RARE Signal a broker?

No. RARE Signal does not execute trades, hold funds, or connect to your brokerage account. You record transactions you have already made, and RARE Signal tracks performance from there. To buy or sell securities, use a licensed JSE broker.

Where does the market data come from?

Market data is sourced from the Jamaica Stock Exchange. It is read-only inside RARE Signal — we never modify, estimate, or fill in prices. If a value is missing from the source, we show it as missing rather than fabricate it.

How current is the data?

Data is refreshed regularly from JSE records. Charts, analysis, and portfolio values are based on the latest available closing data, not live intraday quotes.

How do I create a portfolio?

After signing in, go to the Portfolio page. Use the portfolio selector at the top to open the management menu and choose "Create portfolio". Give it a name and it is ready to receive transactions.

How do I record a buy or sell trade?

Go to the Transactions page and click "Add transaction". Choose buy or sell, then enter the symbol, date, quantity, and price. You can also queue up to 10 trades and submit them together — useful when backfilling history.

Why was my transaction rejected?

RARE Signal validates your full transaction timeline: your holdings can never go negative at any point in time. If a sell would put your position below zero on its date, it is rejected. Check that earlier buys are recorded with the correct dates and quantities.

Are dividends tracked?

Yes. Dividend income is calculated from JSE dividend records and your holdings on the relevant dates, so your portfolio reflects both price performance and dividends received.

Can I have more than one portfolio?

Yes. You can create multiple portfolios, duplicate an existing one, and rename or archive portfolios you no longer use.
